Montevideo’s hotel reputation analysis is part of a broader examination conducted by ReviewPro, the leading provider of reputation management for hotels worldwide.
The study comes at a time of growth within Uruguay’s burgeoning hotel market. ReviewPro analyzed review metrics for Montevideo’s 50 hotels, with an average of 289 opinions per hotel, as well as Punta del Este’s 27, with an average of 174 opinions per hotel. While boutique hotels dominate the rankings, Montevideo’s Regency Suites chain and international chain InterCity hotels also make Montevideo’s Top 10 list.
The analysis ranks the reports for each city by their average Global Review Index™, ReviewPro’s online reputation score for hotels based out of 100. The GRI is based on guest ratings from review sites and OTAs such as TripAdvisor, HolidayCheck and Booking.com.
To calculate the GRI for each hotel, ReviewPro aggregates the overall score that consumers give on more than 140 sites, and normalizes them to offset the differences in scoring systems, using an algorithm that places higher value on newer reviews to best reflect consumers’ actual perceptions.
The hotel with the second-highest GRI is InterCity Premium Montevideo (88.5%), a chain with over 20 hotels throughout Latin America. Strategically located close to the airport and geared towards executive travelers, this hotel won the Travelers’ Choice 2013 Awards from Tripadvisor.
In contrast, the five-star Hotel L’Auberge tops the list of hotels in Punta del Este. This elegant establishment, decorated in a traditional thatch style, also won the prestigious Certificate of Excellence 2013 by TripAdvisor.
