Earlier today, we looked at how sharing on Google Plus is changing the way we find information in search. Well, Facebook isn’t standing still.

In an event in San Francisco last night, they opened up their Open Graph to initial launch partners, including GoGoBot, Pinterest, Foodspotting and more.

This isn’t exactly a surprise.

Mark Zuckerberg introduced the concept at the company’s annual f8 developer conference last September, and the marketing community instantly fell in love with the concept. As Jackie Cohen pointed out on AllFacebook.com, it makes stories much richer and shopping more expressive:

Greg Finn also wrote a piece on Search Engine Land about how this all ties into Facebook’s new Timeline feature and their focus on “telling your story.”

You can see more coverage on last night’s event on TechCrunch (the opportunity for apps) and Fast Company (the impact for business).
