European revenue managers to tackle challenges at HSMAI event

On Feb. 7, European hotel revenue directors, revenue managers and general managers who are committed to driving revenues will gather in London for the HSMAI Annual Revenue Management Conference.

HSMAI Europe’s third annual conference is aimed at giving hoteliers tips, inspiration and the opportunity to network in one intensive one-day conference, says organizer Ally Dombey, director of Revenue by Design Ltd.The gathering this year was organized with the theme, “Mind the Gap – revenue management across the customer journey.”

The event will focus on the many challenges that revenue managers face in implementing revenue management strategies across all customer touch-points – from the hotel web site, across paid-for media such as pay per click, and increasingly through customer generated social media such as TripAdvisor, Expedia and Booking.com.

One of the first presentations in the morning will be from AllTheRooms.com CEO Bill Beckler, previous Innovation Director at Lastminute.com, who will give his thoughts about what revenue managers need to be doing to build power to protect hotels from new threats in the online travel space.

In addition to plenary sessions, the conference has been arranged to allow participants to engage in deeper discussions with speakers during highly interactive roundtable sessions that are unique to HSMAI Europe. The goal of these sessions is to facilitate a deeper understanding of the factors driving change, and enable participants to find answers specific to their own business. There will be four, half-hour roundtable sessions between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The conference comes at a time when hoteliers have the ability to harness exciting new tools, such as the ability to harness social analytics to optimize pricing across their organization. It was created by HSMAI Europe’s Revenue Management Advisory Board, a team of senior operational directors with revenue responsibility from across Europe, committed to developing a program that addresses top of mind issues for today’s revenue managers.
